Second Grade Discipline Plan
To ensure that we accomplish our daily learning goals, we will be using a simple discipline plan based on student responsibility. This classroom management system focuses on each student learning to be responsible for him or herself. When given the choice to manage themselves or to be managed by the teacher, nearly every student chooses to be responsible for his or her own behavior.
CLASSROOM RULES:
1. Be kind (keep unkind words, hands, and feet to yourself)
2. Be quiet at learning stations
3. Be a hard worker
4. Be polite
5. Be sure to follow school and special class rules
INCENTIVES/REWARDS:
1. Good feelings
2. Hugs and praise
3. Happy notes
4. Good grades
5. Treasure chest
6. Hawk slips
RESPONSIBILITY LEVELS:
1. Purple - Outstanding Day
2. Pink - Super Day
3. Blue - Great Day
4. Green - Ready to Learn; Followed Rules and Working
5. Yellow - Warning Needed
6. Orange - Teacher Redirection/Student Regroup Self
7. Red - Teacher/Parent Contact
Each student starts every day with their responsibility card on the green level. There are consequences for not following class or school rules. The teacher reserves the right to skip levels, depending on the seriousness of the offense. These consequences may also be imposed by other teachers for misbehavior outside of the classroom.
This plan will be reviewed with students in class, but I encourage you to review this information with your child at home, as well. A copy of this plan will be provided to parents and students at the beginning of the school year. Please sign and return the last page, indicating that you have read, understand, and support this classroom management system. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to address them with me.
Let's work together to make second grade an enjoyable and successful experience for all children. Thank you!
